Heinrich CASTLEBERRY was born in 1681 in Brugge, Germany.⁽³⁴⁵⁸⁾ He died in 1729 in Perkiomen area, Penn.⁽³⁴⁵⁹⁾ Heinrich was an early settler of Germantown, Philadelphia, Pa. prior to 1691, when as cited in Pennypacker's History, "The Settlement of Germantown", he was recorded as having taken the first steps toward naturalization being listed as "Hendrick Kasselberg, a Mennonite; from Backersdorf, County of Bruggs", Germany, meaning probably, Bruggen near Crefeld in the low country of the Rhine.

The Mennonites, known at Germantown as Dutch Quakers, were much the same doctrine and discipline as the Friends or English Quakers who invited the persecuted Mennonites to colonize in Pennsylvania.

Thirteen families from Crefeld, near the Netherlands border founded German- town in 1683. Succeeding seasons brought additional settlers from that vicinity, and one was Heinrich Kesselberg. In 1692 his name, signed
Heinrich Kesselberg, appears as a witness to the marriage of Henry Efrey and Anna Levering by Justice of the Peace, Francis Daniel Pastorius.

The next record is May, 1708 when his wife's name appears as Catherine Kasselberg on the list of members at the newly built Log Meeting House in Germantown. The meeting house was built by Mennonites who had
previously worshiped with the Friends.

Heinrich was finally naturalized in 1708 , listed as Henry Kessselberry (Pa. Archives Ser. 2, Vol.7}. Later that year he purchased a tract of land. Deed dated December 30, 1708, reads, - Edward Farmer to Heinrich Kasselbery, of
Germantown; this deed in1895 being in the possession of Wm. A. Yeakle.

Principal Mennonite industries were weaving (which made Germantown famous) and farming. Two tracts comprising 4 sq. miles of excellent land, unplatted parts of their original purchases from William Penn were laid out by patent in 1702. These plats were located about twelve miles northwest on Skippack Creek. One was called Telner's township and the other Bebber's township (names now extinct. The meeting house or its successsor and the "old grave yard" are still in existence near Methacton in the present townshipof Worcester. But most of the land was in the township afterwards named New Providence and Perkiomen and the settlements approached and perhaps embraced the sites of the present villages of Evansburg and Easleville. It is in Providence that the remaining records of Henry are found. In l723, his daughter Eve Caselbury (Mar. revord Pa.Archives.,8-56) was married to John Bassett. In 1725, in a petition for a road, his name appears written for the first time in its permanent form, Henry Casselberry.

The reference to him in his widow's will as Henry Casselbary of Providence township, seems to have been merely a sequence of pronunciation in dialect.

Henry's will proved Sep. 4, l729 and recorded in Book E, page 10 Philadelphia, names his eight children, l/2 the farm being left to his oldest son Derrick, l/2 to his wife, thence to his son John "provided he prove dutiful to his mother". It is signed Henry Casselberry.

Heindrick and Katrin came from Brugge, Germany, described as "a wedge of land running between Holland and Belguim, only a few miles from the border". They left their father-land about 1690. They settled in Norristown, Pennsylvania (now a part of Philadelphia). He was naturalized in 1706.
